Athithi devo bhava

Hello friends in this blog I want to put before some aspects of the host and guest relationship.

One might well say that mankind is divisible into two great classes: hosts and guests.
Max Beerbohm.

MATRU DEVO BHAVA
PITRU DEVOBHAVA
ATHITHI DEVO BHAVA

What do these above quotes mean? Treat your mother as God, your father as God and guest as God.

Every house where love abides And friendship is a guest, is surely home, and home, sweet home for there the heart can rest. ~Henry van Dyke

The ornaments of your house will be the guests who frequent it.
-Author Unknown

There is a very great relationship between a host and guest in our country.
Host means the person residing in his place. Guest means a person who visits a place.

Host should have these qualities in him/her
H-honour
O-Offer
S-serve
T-treat

With all these qualities  a person should look upon a guest by
G-greeting, U-unbending, E-entertaining, S-sharing, T-thanking.

I hope you have understood my interpretations.
In olden days  every host awaited for the visit of  a guest ,to serve them in the best way possible. They were delighted to spend time with them, discuss common topics, share their views, have fun, sit together and have food so that they were completely diverted from the day to day stress.

Lord Krishna treated his childhood friend Sudama as a guest and spent much of his time, which made Sudhama recollect  his childhood days with Krishna and he was totally  immersed with the Lord's hospitality such incidents  has happened  since  ancient times.

In the recent years there is some sort of communication gap is seen. Sometimes when a guest visits our homes, the host is so busy that they don't have time to tell hello, or they are busy watching TV, computers and so on.

What has happened to Indian culture?

Why should someone visit your house? It is not that they have some work with you, may be they did, but even then he is a guest to your house. So it is the host's duty to honour, offer serve and treat him properly.

Whenever a person comes to our house we should greet him with a smile so that he is assured that his coming  is accepted by us.

What happens if we sit and talk with him for a few minutes, it costs nothing. The fundamental principle of host is to treat the guest with courtesy, talk to him politely not inculcating with his personal affairs to poke him. After all he spends a few minutes or hours with us. Then why should we not take this opportunity to spend time healthily and merrily. Every acquaintance with a guest should be a good memory for us not a bad memory.

The modern generation can spend their valuable time in playing games, and spend their time with  Facebook, whatsapp etc. But cannot talk and spend a few moments with the people who visit them. This is ridiculous.

So why don't we mend these shortcomings .After all when guest visits our house we will have some diversion from our routine life. If they are our family members or friends we can recollect some of our happiest memories of childhood, schooldays and so on which we make us feel refreshed.

Friends in this modern world I am afraid we are losing smiling faces, each person is engrossed either in his own software or hardware world.

So friends both host and guests should have a good communicative relationship so that it will give a good foundation to the future  generations.
This will enhance their social behaviour so that they can adapt with everybody and at all instances.

I have put some thoughts which came to me ,hope all of us  treat a guest as :
ATHITHI DEVO BHAVA.

Thanks for your time ,have a great weekend ahead.

Mathematics in living

Hello friends ,

Here is my blog about  living mathematically  in  one's life time.
In mathematics  we have a rule called BOD -MAS RULE while we solve the problems pertaining to brackets. I am trying to implement this rule in our daily lives to lead a healthy and peaceful life.
In BOD-MAS rule,

B stands for brackets
O stands for the order
D  stands for division
M stands for multiplication
A stands for addition
S stands for subtraction.

I will start from  B. "BRACKETS. We are all born in this world  with the opening bracket by taking birth .

Next comes the order in which we  are born in a particular family , their  habits, culture and so on.following a particular order of living pattern comprises in this operation.here we learn many things about the family traits, cultures, traditions etc.

Next is the operation of division where in a particular aspect in the  family dominates in the division of work, ideas , progress.economy etc.
Mankind is divided into rich and poor, into property owners and exploited and to abstract oneself from this fundamental division and from the antagonism between poor and rich means abstracting oneself from fundamental facts.

In this concept of division operation ,we should work hard so much that the dividend which we have brought from our previous lives should give us a good quotient to reach, the Ultimate and with no reminders for future lives if at all we are born again .Here the divisor is our ultimate efforts in right way to get the Grace of the Lord.

Next comes  the operation of multiplication, this is a very good operation in our daily lives.we can multiply our thoughts, activities work, in such an extent that we are given a chance to achieve our goals.as we go on multiplying good thoughts, good deeds, we feel so happy  that we have somewhere done something in the name of god and offered him the same.
Every man who knows how to read has it in his power to magnify himself, to multiply the ways in which he exists, to make his life full, significant and interesting.
Aldous Huxley.

Next comes the operation of addition.this operation is also very important  in lives because so many aspects add to our living style by which we can gain experience, learn morals and try to become more  wise ,people in our circle will take us to the path where we can gain confidence and approach our goals.
When things aren't adding up in your life, start subtracting. Life gets easier when you delete the things and people that make it difficult.
-John Reyes.

The last operation is subtraction, wherein we have to try to subtract all our sins, misgivings, ego, hatred , cruelty towards society , we should start avoiding belittling people, comparing, discussing matters which are worthless, criticism etc. This subtraction is filtration process  wherein in the end we should try to see no residue is left.
“If the past was the age of adding to one's mind, now is the age of subtracting what is in his mind. A person who subtracts his minds in this time will recover his original nature.”

So friends let us all be wise to apply the BOD -MAS  rule in our life to solve all the problems  to lead a successful  and peaceful life.

Thanks for your time have a great week ahead.

Catalyst

Hi friends

Please lend your time to read my latest blog CATALYST.

In 'Diary,' the motto really is: 'Where Do You Get Your Inspiration?' It coaches us to be aware of our motives and not just be a reaction to the circumstances around us.
-Chuck Palahniuk

“Each new day is a blank page in the diary of your life. The secret of success is in turning that diary into the best story youpossibly can.” ― Douglas Pagels.
In chemistry catalyst is a substance which participates in a chemical reaction without changing itself. I compare our life time to many chemical reactions where in lot of ingredients like love ,faith ,anger ,ego, fear, anxiety and so many factors are interacted. Maintenance of diary or making a habit of writing a dairy will behave like a catalyst in our daily life.

In our school days our teachers used to insist us to maintain dairy so that we can improve our studying habits.
By writing the daily events at the end of the day we can filter negativity and prop up with positive thoughts for the next day. This catalyst called diary of events changes us to reorganize our habits, duties, assignments in a proper way. So the habit of writing dairy promotes us to discipline.

In fact by writing down the daily happenings we can overcome our anger, stress , anxiety. For example if we have shouted on an issue on that day, if we include it in the diary while writing, our mind will question us for what reason such an act happened and we will try to rectify ourselves for not  to behave in the same way the next day.

Next comes the day’s achievements and useful deeds which we have executed in that day and we can repeat the same on the coming day.

Next comes adjustments of events. By looking at the series of events happened on the entire day, we can read  our schedule so that it will be more smoothly performed for the next day.

Punctuality comes next. We can verify whether we concentrated on our practice of music, studying and our daily routine of physical and mental exercises as per schedule. So friends in the end if we ourselves read the daily events recorded by us in the dairy we feel so excited for what we have  achieved in the entire day.

Lastly one more thing I wanted to tell you is that we can confess with God for anything wrong done on that day.

My sincere request to all of you is to start writing diary daily before you go to bed and thank God for making you perform all the activities that entire day.
So let the CATALYST called DIARY shape our human interactions.

The four expedients.

Hello friends ,

In today's blog I want to talk about the four expedients  assured by the supreme lord to mankind to reach  and surrender to him.

Saint Thyagaraja in one of his composition in ragam kaapi naarayani says

"sarasa Saama dhaana bedha dhanda chatura saati deivame".

He enunciates lord Rama  used all these means sama, dhana, bedha, danda  to forgive Ravana to surrender himself to the Lord.
He says Rama first applied the expedient 'sama 'conciliation meaning  speaking to
Him wisely through his envoy hanumantha for an understanding to surrender hithavu maata lentho bhaaga balkithivi and Ravana was furious and acted as if  he was the all powerful expecting least of the future.

Next Rama applied the second expedient' dhaana 'means offering him his own kingdom of Ayodhya and for a treaty to send back Seetha. sathamugaodhayanuichhinantivi. Even for this Ravana was not ready.
So next Rama used the next expedient' bhedha' in which he said he will make Vibhishana Ravana's younger brother as the  king of Lanka inducing a way of indifference between  him and his brother, nathasahodhurini raju jesi , meaning atleast by this Ravana will change his mind, but this  proved futile.

Rama was amazed to see that a great learned brahmin, a great devotee of Lord Shiva, a great scholar like Ravana paramashambhava agrasenundu is behaving like a beast .

And used his last expedient Dhanda to kill him as it was the only  resort to  behold Dharma ,'hathamujesithivi'.

So friends  in the journey of our life the lord the ultimate  goes on cautioning us with the all above four expedients in every  aspect .his advises are spread through saints, satsangs, well-wishers , and so on , but we  are not ready to take it in an analytic way.if everybody in this world go with the first expedient the conciliation  then there will not be any hatred, jealousy, egoism, terrorism which all lead to the destruction of mankind.

So friends whenever a suggestion is given to us we should be humble to analyse  at what context it is given which will smoothen  the happenings ahead. So let us not be hasty in taking decisions and adamant like Ravana.

Let us lead  our lives  understanding the  teachings of the wise.

Thank you for your precious time.

Family circle

Hello friends,

Hope you had a good week end ending up with great day the MOTHER’S DAY. I am writing to you about some basics of geometry which is a branch of mathematics. Oh! are you shocked that I am teaching you geometry, not at all.

I am interpreting some concepts of geometry with the human relationships. Here I am dealing with a geometrical shape called CIRCLE. So what is a circle? It is a locus of number points drawn in a circular way.
The parts related to a circle being, circumference, centre radius diameter, chord and tangents.

First of all we will take circumference.it is the boundary of a circle and which I call it is the boundary for a family. Next we go to the point called centre from which the circle is drawn.
Centre is the core of a family from which originates number of issues.

Next part is the RADIUS. It is a line drawn from the centre to the circumference. This is most important line which establishes affection, love, faith, equality, and truthfulness  within the circle of family.it is equidistant from the centre and maintains its equality with the family.so we should be like radii in a circle.

Now we will consider the DIAMETER which is a line touching two opposite points on the circumference passing through the centre. So great people behave like these lines connecting the different views in the family circle and once again centralise the issues.

Next comes a line called CHORD. This is a line in a circle which touches the circle internally at any two points not passing through the centre. So there are such people who act like chords in our lives.

For appearance they will be present inside the family circle but do not bother to react with core and centralised views of the family. They pretend to be with you but internally they are not considerate to you.

Next comes the TANGENT. This line touches a circle outside the circle at a point. I personify these tangents to the people  who visit a family circle from outside, touching  the points on the  family circle with lot of gossip, nonsense, these people simply irritate the family circle with unnecessary points, which the family circle suffer with  misunderstandings and  misgivings.

So friends let us all behave like the RADII OF THE CIRCLE with the inner bondage of the GREAT CIRCLE CALLED FAMILY.

Good night have a nice week ahead.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Highways and by lanes

Hello friends,

today I wish to put before you some aspects of highways and by lanes in the journey of your lives.
Saint Thyagaraja  who was a great devotee of Lord Rama is considered to be one of the trinity of  classical music. The other two are shri Muthuswamy Dikshithar and Shyamashastri. All the three have composed many number of compositions  on Bhakthi, with meaningful themes.

So saints have laid the path in high ways which takes us to  reach the Supreme. This has been very beautifully depicted in one of the compositions of St Thyagaraja, it goes like this' CHAKKANI RAJA MARGAMULUNDAGA SANDULA DOORA NELA MANASA', IN RAAGA  KHARAHARAPRIYA, meaning when there are royal roads and highways to  reach god , oh mind why are you opting for by lanes?

Displaying images (2).jpg

Highways pertains to the deep thinking, good attitude, faith, truthfulness, doing good deeds, helping the the needy and humbleness.by practicing these things one can surely   put oneself in the right highways.

In the by-lanes there is a lot of congestion of traffic with jealousy, ego, selfishness, criticism, noise and all sorts of confusion, which is a hindrance to move forward and progress in life, here our minds gets confused to choose the way to travel and become helpless and suffer without knowing what to do.so friends let us all choose the highways which are broad and clean throughout rather than the by lanes to reach the ultimate.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Happiness

Hello friends ,
good morning to all.
Today I am putting before you some aspects related to the word HAPPINESS.

Happiness is a moment in everyone's life which makes them feel light and contented.Happiness cannot be inherited or forced. It has to be attained by one's own self.

In this context I wish to go back to my childhood days, when we used to  visit our granny's village, play in the fields, chatting with the villagers and their kids , telling them about city lives and stories.
The reflection on their faces were depicting their happy moments with us. We were enjoying so much with that serene natural atmosphere.

Nowadays getting a smile from a person is costing so much.Everyone is engrossed in some sort of stress and they have forgotten their care free life they have spent.
Come on, friends just recap your happiest moments  in your life , share with your fellow beings and keep them and ourselves happy.

Spend happy moments with your nearest  and dearest and filter the dirt  namely  ego, jealousy, possesiveness gossip, etc.Exchange good thoughts, with them, play games, sing ,dance ,talk about philosophical, mythological, general awareness, scientific  topics, these all add to the happy moments which enrich your personsality.

Happiness is an ocean and miseries and troubles are tides in it.

So common we shall all join hands  live happily like the ocean come what may.
Thank you for your  precious time spent to read  my blog.

Talent.

Hey folks wishing you a great week ahead. Today I am writing a blog about talent.

Talent means natural attitude or skill .

According to shastras there are 64 types of talents inherited by humans so everyone of us possess , atleast one talent, in this context I wish to say, all living beings namely, birds , animals and humans, have a talent to show the personality,

For example the singing of cuckoo is so melodious, the dancing of peacock is rhythemic , the humming of bees , sweaking of squirrels and so on.

To recoginse these sounds one should have a mind and apperciate God's creation, talent plays a major role in human beings man has been  blessed by the lord to put his mind and execute his thoughts.

All of us are blessed with talents in one way or the other we all are not nurturing it with good manure called practise.  We can share our talent with all so that they get inspired with it and start thinking "oh I too can do it".

For example my house maid puts rangoli very beautifully and i admire her very much and encourage her, which makes her feel happy, so as my flower vendor who ties the flowers, which many cannot do.

So talent is used in many ways as to make a living , make people happy. In this context I want to stress upon one big talent called music which takes you very near to God which is ultimate.please pursue  music in whichever way you like, let it be classical carnatic , hindustani, bhajans, light music and so on which makes you feel God is always with you.whenever you hum a tune  you feel very light and a sort of peacefulness is experienced within yourself.

Lastly I request you all to encourage people with talent , and encourage yourself to develop your hidden talents , so that you can lead a stress free life and with satisfaction.

TREASURE

Hello friends, hope you are all enjoying the week end. I wish you can spare sometime to read my blog, here it goes.

“Treasure and the thoughtful meaning behind it”

By common sense and by the dictionary meaning we understand treasure as money, wealth, property, and so on. But for me the meaning is entirely different. I understand treasure as something which can never be lost nor destroyed and can be only achieved through one’s own bent of mind. It has many faces like love, affection, faith, gratitude, forgiveness, humbleness and diplomacy.

So I call these words as synonyms for the word treasure.  All the above words contribute for the treasure which a human being should possess and is always reserved in one's own self. So I wish we shall start accumulating these treasures in our life time as they are everlasting and not the material treasures which are never lasting.

By practicing this we all can lead a lovable and meaningful life.

Friends I have shared these thoughts which came to me so that all of us  can clear the curtain of ego, within us and pray God for his Grace directly on us.

Good morning, have a nice day ahead.
